Easy Berry Sauce

This Easy Berry Sauce is great over pound cakes, ice cream, cheesecake, lemon cake or pie.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups fresh or frozen blackberries, strawberries, raspberries or a mixture of your favorite berries
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar depending on your taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water only if you're using fresh berries

Instructions
 

  • Bring 2 1/2 cups of berries and all of the sugar to a simmer over medium heat. For fresh berries, add 1/4 cup of water. If you are using frozen berries, don't add water. Cook for two minutes or until sugar is dissolved and berries are cooked through. Add remaining 1/2 cup of berries to the mixture and incorporate. Serve over cake or ice cream.
