Easy Berry Sauce

This Easy Berry Sauce is great over pound cakes, ice cream, cheesecake, lemon cake or pie. One of my fondest memories of making this was for a friend’s son’s graduation. Their caterer wasn’t able to be there and they needed something simple, delicious, and elegant. Since you can use frozen berries for this recipe, it was a no-brainer. I could have this dessert ready in a matter of 15 minutes.

Easy Berry Sauce

berry sauce, blackberry sauce, mixed berry sauce, raspberry sauce, strawberry sauce

  • 3 cups fresh or frozen blackberries, strawberries, raspberries or a mixture of your favorite berries
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar depending on your taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water only if you're using fresh berries

  1. Bring 2 1/2 cups of berries and all of the sugar to a simmer over medium heat. For fresh berries, add 1/4 cup of water. If you are using frozen berries, don't add water. Cook for two minutes or until sugar is dissolved and berries are cooked through. Add remaining 1/2 cup of berries to the mixture and incorporate. Serve over cake or ice cream.
